Spindle Turns (Sunday Psalms Series)

Sunday Psalms: Fictional Narratives & Poetry Inspired by the Psalms, Proverbs, & Other Biblical Works

Spindle Turns

Time surely crawls
Inches like a slug
Slow is the clock
Summer’s listless child
Waits,
Longs to run

Hands of time race
Magic spindle taunts
Moments slip through cracks
“Slower…”
Adults whisper earnest pleas

Life weaves a garment
Fibers bind memories,
Regrets, dreams,
Restless wanderings

Spindle turns
Moons wane
Days, hours dissipate

Close to death
Close to life
We long to see the Light

But I trusted in thee, O Jehovah: I said, Thou art my God. My times are in thy hand: Deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: Save me in thy lovingkindness.Psalm 31:14-16 (ASV)

For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (ASV)

Question to Ponder: When does time move quickly for you? Slowly?
